Information about our Art

Please note that images viewed on the web do not reflect the true quality, beautiful colors, and textures of the actual images due to the necessity of small files prepared for the web. Ready-to-hang art (mounted and framed) can be ordered, however, certain art pieces may be immediately available directly from our studio gallery in Eureka.

Most of our art is digitally painted, using natural media paint brushes available in Painter, produced on canvas and then hand-painted with acrylics. Matted and mounted prints on linen are also available.

Giclee Museum-Quality Prints and Longevity

Each image is individually produced when ordered and has the same quality and resolution as the first original print. Our high resolution images are produced on Epson's 4000 professional printer, using 8-color, pigment-based UltraChrome inks to deliver large gamut, long-lasting, water-resistant prints. Giclee (pronounced Gee-clay), refers to the process of spraying archival ink in tiny microscopic amounts onto canvas, producing incredibly detailed prints. Images have a crisp contrast with rich, intense colors and better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. The actual image resolution is higher than with traditional lithography. We use high quality, museum-quality canvas and then hand coat each piece with a coating that is moisture resistant and protects the canvas from the effects of UV light. (Color saturation and contrast is stronger than can be displayed on the web images.)

Research completed with these inks, indicates that under normal conditions for fine art prints, archival inks will last approximately 80+ years without fading. As with other fine art prints, one should protect them from smoke, dust, humidity and UV rays. We personally frame and hang our art without glass as we enjoy the intimacy of the art without the reflective quality of glass. We will be shipping any ready-to-hang art without glass. If you wish to add glass, any frame shop can easily do so for you.

Fine Art Mediums

After experimenting with many fine art papers and mediums, we prefer to produce most of our images on linen or canvas. Some images may produce best on a watercolor medium.

1. Imported linen: Bright white and smooth, 100% cotton rag, with a texture that looks lyexact like a random cotton canvas pattern. We absolutely love the texture and quality that the linen adds to our art, especially the type of images that are included in the Lovers' Gallery.

2. Water-resistant Canvas: A cotton/poly blend with a matte finish. Canvas texture gives the image a wonderful durability and a paint-like finish that adds to the brilliance of the great colors in our images.

Framing

Mounting and beautiful wood framing is available upon request with a price range of $30-$100 depending upon the size of the piece. Call for details and price quote.

Limited Editions - Certificates of Authenticity

Our images are truly one of a kind and very unique. Because we individually hand craft each one, we make only a few of each image. Most images are limited to no more than 25. Each limited edition print is individually numbered and signed by the artist. Your print will be mailed with a separate Certificate of Authenticity which will include the name of the print purchased, date and edition number. The Certificate is valuable and becomes part of your investment should you decide to resale your art.
